Capella de Ministrers

Ever since its foundation in 1987, Capella de Ministrers directed by Carles Magraner has been acknowledged for the qualities and intensity of musicological research as well performance, thus contributing to the propagation of Spanish cultural heritage from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The ensembles’ projects are the result of three constitutive factors closely connected: musicological rigour, musical sensibility and the contagious desire to share their music experiences.

The ensemble has appeared in some of the most prestigious venues and festivals in Spain (Auditorio Nacional de España, Palau de la Música de Valencia Palau de la Música Catalana, Festival de Música Antiga de Barcelona, Madrid Cultural 1992, Festival de Teatro Clásico de Almagro, Festival de Peralada, Quinzena Musical Donostiarra, Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada, Festival de Música Religiosa de Cuenca etc.) and in most European countries, in the South and North Americas, as well as in China and Algeria.

The ensemble has produced 40 records for EGT, Blau, Audivis and Capella de Ministrers’ own label CDM. The group has been awarded a number of prestigious prizes, such as the award of the Ministry of Culture of Spain the “Importante” prize from Valencian press or, recently the Civic Prize Almussafes in the Ribera Baixa region (2008).

The group’s activities extend the limits of concert performance, including some highly acclaimed scenic projects and collaboration with some of the foremost Spain’s film and theatre directors, such as Alex Rigola, Juli Leal, Vicent Genovés, Jaume Martorell and Bigas Luna, or the choreographer Santiago Sempere, as well as musicians from other disciplines, including Joan Enric Lluna and Miguel Marín.
