Dorothee Mields is one of the leading interpreters of 17th- and 18th-century music and is beloved by audiences and critics alike for her unique timbre and moving interpretations.
She appears regularly with the Collegium Vocale Gent, Bach Collegium Japan, Netherlands Bach Society, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, L’Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, Lautten Compagney and Klangforum Wien under such conductors as Stefan Asbury, Ivor Bolton, Frans Brüggen, Paul Goodwin, Philippe Herreweghe, Gustav Leonhardt, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Stephen Stubbs, Masaaki Suzuki and Jos van Veldhoven.
Dorothee Mields is a welcome guest at international festivals, including the Leipzig Bach Festival, Suntory Music Foundation Summer Festival in Japan, Boston Early Music Festival, Flanders Festival, Vienna Festival, the Handel Festival in Halle and the Tanglewood Festival.
A steadily growing discography with several award-winning recordings documents her artistic achievements. Recent releases of Dowland “In Darkness Let me Dwell” (with Hille Perl’s Sirius Viols, Sony 2008) and Purcell “Love Songs” (with the Lautten Compagney, Carus 2010) have received great critical acclaim.
Among the highlights of Dorothee Mields’s 2011/2012 season have been several concert tours with Collegium Vocale Gent and the Netherlands Bach Society, a performance of Bach’s “Schleicht, spielende Wellen” with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks under the direction of Thomas Hengelbrock, Bach’s “St. John Passion” with Frans Brüggen and the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and Haydn’s “Die sieben letzten Worte” with Sir Roger Norrington and the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart.
