The renaissance Martinic palace seems to be an ideal place for the performance of renaissance music. One of its forms, that of the English love ballad was presented by the eminent Belgian ensemble La Caccia under the artistic leadership of Patrick Denecker. The texts, set to music by T. Morley, J. Bull, E. Johnson and R. Allison, always a little subdued, were sensually performed by the notable Scottish soprano Susan Hamilton, well corresponding with the love-scene sgraffito on the walls of the venue.
