Programme 2012

13th International Music Festival

19th July – 6th August 2012

Although “Metamorphosis” may primarily evoke the biological transformation from an immature to a different adult form that insects and other invertebrates undergo in the course of maturing, the term also has many applications in mythology, and by extension in all the arts that use mythological themes. The obvious example are Ovid’s Metamorphoses: twelve books of tales that involve transformations in form, character, nature, or disposition of its protagonists, usually by supernatural means. Ovid is mostly interested in metamorphosis as a universal principle that explains the nature of the world.
