Akademie Versailles is an international educational project aimed at the interpretation of French Baroque music and its period performance practice. The project is organized by Collegium Marianum and the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles (CMBV) in collaboration with the Prague Consevatoire in Prague. It is part of a long-term partnership of the Summer Festivities of Early Music in Prague with the CMBV whose task is to preserve and promote French Baroque music.
Akademie Versailles 2017 aimed to students of conservatories and music universities, as well as for young professionals. During the five-day orchestral workshop students of bowed string instruments (violin, viola, and cello) had a chance to play on copies of unique historical instruments that were used in the famous Versailles orchestra of Louis XIV. The orchestra worked under the guidance of Patrick Cohën-Akenine, the artistic director of the renowned Les Folies françoises and violin teacher at the Charles Munch Conservatory in Paris and the École Nationale de Musique in Orsay.
