The single-reed relative of the clarinet, favoured and used during Mozart’s lifetime – those would be the characteristics of the basset horn. Those present at the concert at Břevnov Monastery had the chance to hear the instrument triple. The artistic director of Stadler Trio, Eric Hoeprich, is one of the greatest promoters of the basset horn. Mozart admired the sad, sombre sound of the instrument and the music for wind ensembles was a great fashion at his time. The Stadler Trio performed Mozart’s music and that of his contemporaries, Anton Stadler and George Druschetsky.
