The closing night of the 9th Summer Festivities of Early Music was dedicated to Maestro di Boemia, i.e. Jan Dismas Zelenka. In his lamentations and arias starred one of the foremost contemporary countertenors, Philippe Jaroussky from France whose voice range encompasses even the soprano register. Jaroussky’s brilliant technique and heartfelt interpretation places him on the same level as such stars of the vocal art as Magdalena Kožená or Cecilia Bartoli. Jaroussky was accompanied by the Czech baroque orchestra Musica Florea conducted by Marek Štryncl.
