Les Basses Réunies (France)
Bruno Cocset – artistic director (France)
Saturday 14 July 2007, 7.30 pm
Congress Hall of the Czech National Bank, Senovážné náměstí 30, Praha 1
The opening concert of the festival offered, as is fitting on such occasions, a spectacular programme comprising works by renowned composers such as Jean-Philippe Rameau and Antonio Vivaldi, but also those by authors whose output is unknown to the general public. The French musicians present the instrumental compositions of two representatives of the late French baroque: Jean Barrière and Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrac Royer in an unusual assemblage of instruments: two solo cellos to the accompaniment of harpsichord and baroque guitar.
