On that night in mid-July the Spanish Hall shined in glory – not only in the eyes of music-lovers, but upon the whole of Prague. The source of that glow was indeed exceptionally strong: the splendour of the baroque oratorios by the Roman masters Marco Marazzoli and Giacomo Carissimi, and their Munich follower Johann Caspar Kerll. The performance by the renowned German ensemble of vocal soloists Cantus Coelln opened the fourteenth Summer Festivities of Early Music, thus erecting a triumphal arch through which Rome and its musical heritage kept flowing to Prague in the course of the three festival weeks...

The Summer Festivities of Early Music Opened With a Concert of Cantus Cölln at the Prague Castle
Opera PLUS, 19. 7. 2013, Vít Dvořák
The Prague audience admired not only the precision, but also the deep emotionality of the performance.

Cantus Cölln at the Summer Festivities of Early Music

The whole was, in my opinion, outstanding, just the kind of performance that I relish and seek out.

Music from Eternal Rome in Prague
Lidové noviny, 23. 7. 2013, Helena Havlíková
The concentration and perfect contact between the six singers, their faultless vocal technique as well as the thought out phrasing were the maxims of this performance.

Summer Festivities of Early Music
Harmonie 9/2013, Marc Niubò
[…] the Prague performance was characterized by perfect technique, emphasis on detail and the whole, as well as the clear timbre of the ensemble and sensitive accompaniment in which the listeners could admire the charming sound of the seldom heard lirone.
